About this Role
Carrier is looking for software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and other engineering majors with demonstrated leadership ability and strong academic performance to join our competitive Carrier Engineering Leadership Program (ELP). The ELP offers new graduates an opportunity to deliver impactful contributions to strategic projects through three eight-month rotations across various Carrier business units.
ELP rotation locations will be in China Shanghai or Hangzhou or Foshan.
Candidates selected for the program will receive front-line, hands-on, meaningful assignments designed to stretch their capabilities and accelerate their professional development. In addition to the hands-on experience, the program includes high-caliber training, mentorship, and guidance from our diverse team of Carrier executives and program alumni to build a strong and lasting global network of colleagues.
Our Lifecycle Solution & Innovation team is responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art HVAC plant system controls and building level lifecycle solutions, digital services with data analytics, fault detection and diagnostics, healthy building solutions, and breakthrough technologies that are used by Carrier HVAC and Refrigeration service team, building system group and product development team for Carrier’s intelligent climate and energy system innovation, operation and maintenance. To help Carrier accelerate its transformation to create global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, we are hiring and empowering a recently graduated research engineer to help us innovate and pursue the development of novel systems in support of Carrier’s plan to develop the next generation of sustainable building solutions. The focus would be on maturing early-stage technologies for disruptive HVAC&R systems, which include breakthrough technologies in the areas of efficient sustainable non-vapor compression-based thermal solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design and validate alternatives to the current status quo in HVAC&R technologies and associated systems considering all aspects of the system such as architecture, design, performance, components and materials selection, cost, manufacturability, technology safety, regulatory compliance and reliability
- Provide expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal management system analysis in the development of next generation high efficiency and environmentally friendly HVAC/R and energy systems
- Develop HVAC&R system architectures with novel technologies using analytical and model-based design tools and methodologies
- Validate multiscale model-based predictions through experimentation and analysis
- Develop technology value proposition by analyzing system performance against KPIs such as load capacity, efficiency, reliability etc. while meeting initial and operational cost targets
- Support the identification, creation and growth of disruptive technology project pipelines, aligned with themes in disruptive HVAC&R, sustainability and service
- Collaborate and coordinate with global team members, other functions with Carrier and external partners/universities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree above in Engineering or related field
- Strong academic performance, minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, with 3.2 preferred students
- Must be geographically mobile and have the ability to relocate for rotations.
- To be eligible for the program, you must be a 2023-2025 graduate of the degree in the relevant field and start in the Leadership Program July 2025

- Deep understanding of HVAC&R systems, thermodynamic cycles and psychrometric analysis
- Proficiency in specialty software for analysis, tracking and simulation (Dymola, COMSOL, LabVIEW, Ansys/Nastran FEA, CFD etc.).
- Expertise in steady state and dynamic system model development of HVAC system
- Familiar with system optimization techniques and their application to modeling and system design
- Knowledge of dehumidification technologies and materials
- Familiarity with function, components and modeling of electromechanical HVAC systems including heat exchangers, compressors, motors and structural elements or similar systems
