We work on a range of complex digital innovation and strategic design projects critical to Carrier’s continued business growth. Our cross-disciplinary team includes product managers, technologists, strategists, researchers, interaction designers, product designers, and software engineers – all passionate about the ability of technology to change the world for the better. The Lead Designer participates in all aspects of experience design for a digital product – encompassing user research, experience strategy, information architecture, and UX/UI design. As a Lead Designer, you will define behaviors, interactions and workflows across touch-points and channels that are grounded in a deep understanding of user needs, mindsets, and behaviors. 

You will work closely with a product lead to manage design activities for specific scopes of work. For this particular role, we are looking for a designer with strong responsive design and mobile app experience. In addition you must demonstrate the ability to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product lead to plan, prioritize, and execute design activities.  
  • Design digital interfaces and interaction patterns, including dashboards, charts, and data visualizations that bring complex datasets to life. 
  • Produce and own detailed UX artifacts like personas, journey maps, user flows and user requirements specifications. 
  • Simplify complex systems and large volumes of data and content into simplified interfaces. 
  • Communicate and document detailed design specifications to engineers.  
  • Leverage Carrier’s digital design system to create stunning experiences with speed. 
  • Design and field product-specific research, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, A/B tests, and other forms of requirements discovery. 
  • Oversee and help shape visual design work to ensure it meets strategic requirements.  
  • Coach cross-functional team members on the role of UX in their work. 
  • Collaborate with product management to devise pragmatic design solutions. 
  • Collaborate with software engineering to ensure that design specifications are implemented. 
  • Work independently to be the voice of design on mid to large sized projects. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience at an in-house or digital agency
  • Portfolio of work required with application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree
  • 5+ years of related work experience in-house or at a digital agency.  
  • Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology. 
  • Experience working with responsive designs and mobile applications. 
  • Experience working on enterprise products with complex data visualization preferred. 
  • Fluent in relevant design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, InVision, Figma).  
  • Working knowledge of capabilities and limitations of technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript. 
  • Proven ability to create site maps, wireframes, and other common UX design artifacts.  
  • Experience working in a variety of organizations (start-up, corporate, agency)

Pay Range:

$90,263 - $157,959 Annually
