About this role
Carrier HVAC Residential and Light Commercial Operations is looking for a product quality specialist who can work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve the successful launch of New Product Development projects. This is an ideal role for someone who can identify and execute quality improvement projects using warranty data analysis and who can identify and mitigate project risks and execute safe launch plans.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for driving Quality Operations (QOPS) activity in all New Product Development projects. This is an onsite role in either Indianapolis IN or Collierville TN.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate as a Product Quality leader on new product development cross-functional teams through the first year of production
- Coach project teams to ensure that QOPS and manufacturing integration deliverables are met by using the Product Development Process
- Identify project risks and develop the required action plans
- Identify potential quality improvements for new product development projects based on warranty data and Marciano analysis
- Participate in new product build events
- Drive process improvements based on findings from QOPS events
- Coach project team to meet the key quality metrics
- Lead “Safe Launch”/ “Follow The Fleet” process development and implementation
- Guide the Safe Launch team to identify root cause and corrective actions
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years plus of experience in a product development or manufacturing environment
- Travel up to 20% of the time within the USA and to Mexico
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology
- Master’s degree
- Experience in quality assurance/ quality engineering in a product development or manufacturing environment
- Experience with Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), FMEA, Quality Assurance concepts, practices, or testing tools and methodologies
- Experience in HVAC
- Project risk management and tollgate experience
- Team facilitation and cross-functional communication skills
- Problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to drive tasks to completion on schedule
- 6 Sigma, similar statistical quality training or Shainin methodology exposure
- Knowledge of quality and lean manufacturing practices
- English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities
- Data analysis and root cause analysis skills
- Experience with leading Manufacturing, Quality & Serviceability improvements
