We are seeking a motivated, results-oriented college student to join our team for the summer of 2024. The Carrier internship experience offers interns an environment that provides practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience and the opportunity to apply knowledge and demonstrate strengths in efforts to assist Carrier in achieving its business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
As a Software Engineering and Architecture Intern, you will gain experience to include, but not limited to, the following activities and tasks:
- Assisting with designing, developing, and building applications in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative delivery environment.
- Evaluating new companies/features in collaboration with business stakeholders, design, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Developing a technical understanding of the platform stack to understand the feasibility and level of effort required for the projects/tasks at hand.
- Embracing a culture of experimentation and constantly striving for improvement and learning.
- Working in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment - one that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best interests of our customers globally.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 3.0 or higher GPA
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience authoring software with one of the following programming languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C++, C#, or Java
- Deploying web services or applications on a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Authoring automated test coverage for unit tests and integration tests.
- Approaching software development with either test-driven or behavior-driven development methodologies.
- Developing application programming interfaces with REST or GraphQL design patterns.
- Relevant coursework or previous internships are preferred.
- Flexibility and mobility to be located in either West Palm Beach, Florida, or Atlanta, GA location.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter, go-getter, hit-the-ground-running personality with a passion for cutting-edge technology.
- Team player with a positive, collaborative work ethic. Enjoys collaborating with design, product, and other teams.
- Understanding the software development life cycle, from the customer needs to product release, is essential. Some hands-on experience with development tools & dev-ops is a plus.
- Domain knowledge in developing and maintaining reusable software services and infrastructure for promoting the reuse of services/ components/ libraries.
- Ability to analyze software services for reuse potential.
- Understanding of standard practices of open-source software development tools and methodology is absolute.
- Some experience with or knowledge of the following:
- Software-as-a-Service product development.
- Code review.
- Analyzing requirements and designing new functionality.
- Supporting and fixing existing functionality.
- Serverless design patterns.
- Agile/Scrum methodology knowledge.
- Source control management tools – Bitbucket, AWS CodeCommit, CircleCI, git, etc.
