About this role:

We are seeking a Labor Relations specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys meeting challenges head-on. This position is located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis, in a 950,000-square-foot facility, with over 1,500 represented employees during peak season. This is a high visibility role given that the factory is Carrier’s largest and most profitable facility; success in this role will pave the way to further opportunities within the Carrier business.

This position will spearhead and support the administration of the organization's labor and employee relations programs, policies, and procedures. This position will be instrumental in collective bargaining, grievance procedure administration, arbitration preparation, preliminary responses to unfair labor practice charges, and union awareness training. This role will coach business leaders in performance management and talent development as well as serve as a subject matter expert in the consistent application and interpretation of company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and advise on labor relation issues in accordance with the new CBA
  • Administer and manage the grievance process and all meetings in relation to contract language.
  • Actively participate in the labor-management meetings
  • Counsel Managers and Supervisors on step responses to grievances
  • Ensure oversight and consistent application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Research complex labor and employee issues, and if necessary, coordinate efforts with Corporate HR and/or Legal
  • Advise and assist Corporate Leadership in the proper application of Company HR Programs
  • Provide consultation and mediation regarding work-related issues, conflicts, and subject area policy/procedures questions, contract interpretation.
  • Assess and define the current state of Management Development functions and propose new strategies to improve processes
  • Keep management informed on pertinent workforce issues and concerns
  • Coordinate Employee Engagement Survey to achieve operational goals through survey follow-up and execution of action plans
  • Assist with interpreting policies, regulations, and programs in a manner conducive to Company goals and values
  • Provide Human/Labor Relations training at all levels of Plant operations as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 + years of experience in HR/Employee Relations

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 + years of labor relations experience, in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must have shift flexibility
  • Strong communication (written and oral) skills and proven track record to influence downstream and upstream
  • Must be a self-starter with excitement and eagerness to engage with plant, union, and cross-functional teams
  • Solid understanding of lean principles, 6 Sigma methodology, and a continuous improvement mindset
